Special Stagecoach Poppy Bus Unveilled For Armistice Centenery

30th October 2018

Stagecoach East Scotland has teamed up with Poppyscotland and the Royal British Legion to create a commemorative Poppy bus for the centenary of Armistice Day.

The specially designed double decker features a host of giant poppies, the symbol of remembrance and hope, as well as a message of thanks to the individuals who served, sacrificed and changed our world.

It was officially unveiled today in Dunfermline. The Poppy bus will remain in operation throughout the year on services across Fife.

Gordon Michie, the Head of Fundraising at Poppyscotland, said: “Having just launched this Centenary Poppy Appeal, it is wonderful to see this Stagecoach bus looking so resplendent in Poppy colours. We would like to thank Stagecoach for this striking creation and we’re sure it will encourage those who see it to dig deeper for Poppyscotland this year!”

David Frenz, Stagecoach East Scotland Operations Director, said: “We’re delighted to be a small part of the Armistice centenary commemorations taking place up and down the country and to support the great work done by Poppyscotland.”

In March 2015, Stagecoach Group signed the Ministry of Defence’s Armed Forces Corporate Covenant in support of the Armed Forces Community. As a signatory of the Covenant, the company recognises the value serving personnel; regular and reservists, veterans and military families contribute to both the country and businesses across the country.

Later the same year, the company was awarded the silver award through the Ministry of Defence’s Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS). The scheme encourages employers to support defence and inspire others to do the same. The scheme encompasses bronze, silver and gold awards for employer organisations that pledge, demonstrate or advocate support to defence and the armed forces community, and align their values with the Armed Forces Covenant.
